PARKING restrictions around Colchester’s Royal Mail pick-up depot should be relaxed for customers’ sake, according to town MP Sir Bob Russell.
Parking bosses agreed to consider Sir Bob’s call at a meeting of the North Essex Parking Partnership.
He said: “Many years ago there was no problem with where the pick-up office was because, people weren’t getting as much through the mail or people walked to get their parcels.
“Now, people are using so many different internet sites like eBay or Amazon and the queues at Moorside can often be well out the door.
“All I am asking for is some relaxation of the restrictions so that people can park there for up to 30 minutes as there are only two specific customer parking spaces and one of them is designated for disabled people.
“I think even the committee must agree this is just about being more helpful to customers.”
