SINGING star Olly Murs helped Coggeshall Town Football Club celebrate their Essex and Suffolk Border League win on Wednesday 11 May.
The club had already clinched the title and promotion to the Thurlow Nunn League division one, but got their hands on the trophy after beating the University of Essex 4-0 in their penultimate game of the season.
Singer Murs signed up to play for the club in April to help get himself in shape for the upcoming Soccer Aid matches that will be televised live across the UK.
Coggeshall FC have already won the League cup competition this season after a penalty shoot-out victory over Holland FC.
The 138 year old club are the second oldest in Essex and will now be in step six of the non-league pyramid and one step closer to emulating the success of clubs like neighbours Braintree Town.
Before he found fame as a singer and TV presenter Murs played for Witham Town Football Club between 2006 and 2008 before an injury brought a premature end to his sporting career.
He tweeted a series of celebratory pictures last night including one of him wearing the trophy and nothing else.
