A DRIVER will have to travel thousands of miles making five trips to north Essex from Cornwall as he tries to clear his name.
Alican Yildiz denied failing to provide a specimen after being stopped by police.
The 35-year-old, of Church Street, Falmouth, is accused of committing the offence in Clacton on December 30.
He was stopped by police following concerns about possible drink driving.
Yildiz claimed he did not refuse the breath test insisting there was a problem with the device.
Language barriers may have also caused a problem.
His first trip on December 30 involved the alleged offence.
The second was last month to Colchester Magistrates’ Court to deny the crime, however, he was not represented and no interpreter was available.
On Tuesday, Yildiz appeared at court again, this time with an interpreter, but legal aid has not been confirmed.
He has been told to return again next month, when an interpreter will again be needed, for a case update.
He is due to make a fifth trip, on June 26, for the trial. If convicted Yildiz could lose his licence.
