FIREFIGHTERS are battling a fire in Colchester town centre.
It is believed a vehicle is alight in Chapel Street North, close to the Headgate Theatre and the side entrance of the popular Playhouse pub.
Essex Police are on the scene and have set up a cordon to keep people away from the scene.

Roads around the scene were closed.
It is believed the fire has now been mainly extinguished.

6.20pm - The van is now being towed away from the scene.
