RESIDENTS say they have been left with nowhere to park after a sink hole opened in their road.
A pothole which expanded into a sink hole opened in Pownall Crescent, Colchester, last week causing traffic chaos.
Essex Highways sent a letter to homeowners in the road saying while works are carried out to fix the problem, they would have to find an alternative place to park.
Already unhappy with the amount of time it took for diversion signs to be put out, residents felt the letter was an added pain.
It read: “Essex County Council intends to carry out carriageway repairs to the subsidence outside Pownall Crescent.
“A road closure will be in place be- tween King George Road and Berechurch Road but access to properties will be maintained at all times during the closure.
“Due to the nature of the work some delays are possible, your help would be further appreciated if you could make arrangements not to park your car in the road where it may affect works in progress.”
Resident Zara Newton said: “I’m one of the lucky residents who has an allocated parking space behind my flat but my neighbours are having to park down the road quite far from their houses.”
Essex County Council started repair works on Friday.
The council has been approached for comment.
