A campvervan has been completely destroyed after it went up in flames.
Firefighters were called out to Eastwood Drive in Highwoods after the vehicle caught alight sometime around 7.30pm on Friday evening.
Dramatic photos from the scene show the campervan was completely engulfed in flames as fire crews at the scene desperately battled to stop the blaze spreading to cars parked nearby.
The fire was eventually put out but it is not known if there were any injuries.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire in Eastwood Drive, Colchester at 7.39pm yesterday (Friday 24 May).
“On arrival, crews confirmed that one vehicle was completely alight.
"The fire was extinguished by 8.42pm. The cause has been recorded as accidental."
