A THIEF who stole an £8,000 car from an address in Colchester has been ordered to repay his victim just £2,000.
Dumitru Neagu, 46, took the Volkswagen Tiguan on May 30 last year, documents from Colchester Magistrates’ Court show.
The defendant, of Nicholsons Grove, Colchester, admitted theft of a motor vehicle during a previous hearing.
Magistrates ordered Neagu to pay £2,018 in compensation to the vehicle owner and carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay a further £259 in costs and a victim surcharge.
