A TEENAGER has died after she was hit by a car that mounted the pavement.
The 17-year-old, named locally as Charlotte Blackburn, was walking in Main Road, Harwich, near the junction with Gwynne Road at about 1am yesterday when the silver car left the road.
Charlotte, from the Little Oakley, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Colchester General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An 18-year-old man, also a pedestrian and from the area, was believed to have been struck by the vehicle.
He suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
* Two 20-year-old men from the Harwich area have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are in police custody.
