MR Charisma, Olly Murs, has the backing of his old school.
The whole of Witham is behind the town’s X Factor star, who gave yet another confident performance at the weekend.
As odds on the 25-year-old being crowned the eventual winner of the show continue to shorten, bookies seem to think Geordie Joe McElderry is all that stands between Essex charmer Olly and the title.
Mary-Anne Dauti, deputy headteacher at Howbridge Church of England Junior School, Witham, where Olly was a pupil, said he could go all the way. She said: “We are supporting him and he is doing a good job.
“The kids are all very excited by it.
“We expect him to visit and give us a song next time he is in town.”
After Olly performed the Beatles’ classic, Come Together, judge Dannii Minogue said: “I have to say, I absolutely adore you. You are hot, hot, hot. The moves get better every week.”
Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole agreed the former amateur footballer was a hit, with Walsh saying he expected the singer to be in the final three.
Music mogul Simon Cowell, glowing with pride, added: “You are progressing better than just about everybody right now.
“I am very, very proud of you. You did a great job.”
But despite the praise from judges, Olly could be set to miss his twin brother’s wedding.
Ben Murs, Olly’s younger brother by 15 minutes, is due to wed his fiancee on December 5 in Chelmsford.
If Olly is still in the competition, he may struggle to fulfill his duties as best man, as the wedding will conflict with rehearsals for the Saturday night show on the same date.
And perhaps Olly may have his own X Factor wedding soon as a national newspaper have claimed there is love in the air at the X Factor house, with Olly growing close to fellow Essex contestant Stacey Solomon.
As well as a website in his name, there is also an official Facebook page, dedicated to the rising star, which has 83,000 registered fans.
