THE victim of a sustained international racist and bigoted cyber attack claims the “leader” lives in Colchester.
A woman, who goes by the name Margerie Brubaker, has posted a video online accusing a man from the town of subjecting her to years of hate mail, death threats and online abuse because she is a male-to-female transgender.
She has recorded her monologue over the top of a video allegedly showing the man responsible and posted it on video sharing website YouTube.
The 62-year-old said: “This person has been internet terrorising people in the United States, especially harassing and inciting hate crimes against the gay and transgender community. He uses the YouTube website to do this.
“He uses a lot of racial slurs. This individual has threatened me personally – to burn down my home as a leader of this Anonymous faction. Daily threats, daily harassment, gay slurs and racial slurs are routine.”
Anonymous is a group of individuals in America who preach anti-gay, anti-black and anti-Scientology messages via the internet.
In the past, they claim to have successfully hijacked Fox News and were believed to have been responsible for a mass hacking of MySpace web pages. Their message is they are “one” and “many”, and they are what everyone secretly thinks or wants to be.
Margerie believes she has traced the alleged leader’s internet provider address to Colchester.
She believes he may attend Essex University.
She now hopes police in the UK can stop him. She added: “He is breaking the law in the United States and he is real smug and feels like he can get by with it.”
Supt Iain Logan, from Colchester police, said: “We have not received any reports about this. However, now we are aware of this incident, we will be seeking to make contact with this individual to find out more.
“We take all allegations of hate crime seriously.”
University of Essex spokewoman Katharine Clayton said: “The university would co-operate with Essex Police if requested.”
