Teenager George Elokobi today became Phil Parkinson's fourth signing for Colchester United's new Coca-Cola League One season.
Parkinson has snapped up the Cameroon-born, 18-year-old Ryman League division one defender from Dulwich Hamlet.
He joins former Reading midfielder Kevin Watson, Southampton youngster Stephen Hunt and Liam Chilvers to bolster the U's ranks.
Assistant boss Geraint Williams told the Evening Gazette: "Elekobi is a young left-sided centre-half who boasts a bit of pace and he impressed everyone in a trial with us last season.
"The manager has brought the boy in with a view to him pushing for a first-team place later in the season."
Williams also revealed that there could be more signings by the end of the week.
Meanwhile, Wayne Andrews reported in for pre-season training today targeting a big year of League One glory.
The lightning-quick U's striker, who hit the back of the net 14 times last season - his best Football League haul to date - told the Evening Gazette: "I just want to score goals."
