A TEENAGER is staging a fundraising charity bike ride in tribute to her stepfather, who is battling a rare and devastating cancer.
Michaela Davis, 14, a pupil at Colchester Academy, is cycling 32 miles from Colchester to Clacton and back on August 20 with schoolfriends, Carmel Tyler, Megan Barter and Koren Gilray.
The Year 9 pupils want to raise awareness of adenoid cystic carcinoma after Keith Bunton was diagnosed with the condition in September.
The cancer, which attacks the nose and mouth, affects 20 people a year in the UK. Mr Bunton had part of his palate removed.
He said: “It is lovely the girls are doing something like this for me.”
