A YOUNG girl suffered serious injuries after a head-on crash on Berechurch Hall Road.
Five people were injured, including four who required hospital treatment, following the crash at about 10.35pm yesterday.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police are investigating a head on collision on Berechurch Hall Road near the junction of William Harris Way, Colchester.
A Ford Focus, being driven by a 27-year-old man from Tiptree was in collision with a Chrysler Voyager with a family of five from Colchester on board.
"A 12-year-old girl, who was in the rear seat of the Chrysler, received serious neck injuries and she was taken with her family to Colchester General Hospital, who were treated for minor injuries.
"She was later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital."
