COLCHESTER MP Bob Russell has repaid more than £4,500 in expenses after claiming too much for his second home.
Sir Thomas Legg’s report on expenses reveals the Lib Dem was overpaid £4,029 on mortgage interest over four years, and overpaid a total of £510 on his council tax.
The report states that Mr Russell has already repaid the sum.
More than 50 per cent of MPs have been asked to repay expenses claims.
The MP has told the Gazette the overclaims were an innocent mistake which should have been picked up earlier by the Fees Office.
