RADIO DJ Steve Lamacq is to revive an old favourite with the return of his Evening Session show.
The BBC 6 Music presenter and his former co-host, Jo Whiley, will do a one-off special show next month, a BBC spokesman has confirmed.
The show, which started in 1991, was credited with championing up and coming indie bands, including Oasis in its early days. It was axed in 2002.
Lamacq, who grew up in Colne Engaine, near Colchester, and went to Halstead’s Ramsey College, and Whiley will host the show on April 2, between 6pm and 9pm, on BBC 6 Music.
He said: “I jumped at the chance to work with Jo again, because we both have slightly different visions of what pop music is, but they seem to complement each other. Plus, if you make a mistake, you have someone to cover for you.
“We’ll be revisiting some of the music, interviews and sessions from the Nineties – people like Blur, Oasis and Radiohead – while also showcasing bands and tracks we’re excited about now.”
