Drey Wright says he is happy to be back in first team action for Colchester United following his return from injury.
The U's winger returned to the fray in their 0-0 draw with Bradford City last weekend, having not featured for them since suffering a knee injury in their opening-day draw with Oldham Athletic.
It was the same knee as the one he had operated on last season but the U’s youngster said he is now fully recovered.
“There was a bit of inflammation but it’s all fine now and I’m feeling good,” added Wright, who helped the U's under-21s to a 2-2 draw with Coventry City on Tuesday.
“We can’t find an incident in the (Oldham) game where it happened.
“When I was at home after the game, I could feel a bit of pain in my knee.
“I came in the next day to see the physio but we couldn’t really put our finger on what the problem was.
“The surgeon who performed my operations last year seemed to pinpoint the problem, which obviously helped.
“It was the same knee as last time but it wasn’t the same part of the knee - I lost a lot of muscle around that area during the operations I had.
“I could have been back a bit sooner but we decided to give it a little bit more time, so hopefully there’ll be no more problems with it.
“I’ve been training over the last week or so with the first team and it’s really good to get back out on the pitch again.”
