Colchester United manager Tony Humes was full of praise for match-winner Gavin Massey after his brace helped them see off Fleetwood Town.
The U's beat the Cod Army 2-1 to win the first-ever meeting between the two clubs and claim their first home win of the season.
Humes said: “Gavin scored a great first goal, his first of the season and it was great for him.
“He also scored a fantastic winning goal and we’ll take a lot of positives from this win.
“We had to move them a little bit more to get these kind of opportunities.
“Gavin has drifted in from the right-hand side, found himself a bit of space and it was a fantastic finish.
“Gavin has been playing well over the last seven or eight games.
“He’s had a lot of opportunities in areas without having clearcut chances and for him to score two goals is great for his confidence and for him to take forward.
“He’s a versatile player, he can play in the ten role as a midfield player, he can play wide right and left and he can play up front and he was effective for us.
“It was a tough game so we’re absolutely delighted to come out with a win playing against a tough team."
