Millwall defender Matthew Briggs has joined Colchester United on loan for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old, who has played 30 times for England youth sides, trained with his new team-mates this morning and goes into the squad for Saturday's League One match at home to Leyton Orient.
"I wanted to get out and play regular football as it's been a bit of a frustrating season for me," said Briggs, who is the youngest-ever player to grace the Premier League after making his Fulham debut at the age of 16 years and 65 days old.
"The (Millwall) manager brought in another left-back with a bit more experience and wanted to firm up the back line.
"This is an opportunity for me to go out and get some games.
"I've played with a few of the guys from Colchester in the past and they told me about the club.
"I went to school with Craig Eastmond and I played with Sanchez Watt and Ben Gordon with England.
"It's a bit like Southampton where they try and bring through young talent, so I knew it was the right place for me."
Briggs is the second new arrival today, with striker Chris Porter being unveiled this morning.
The former Sheffield United front man has penned an 18-month deal with the U's.
