Johnnie Jackson fears his injury-hit season is over.
The versatile midfielder – Colchester United’s player of the year last season – is facing another spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring at Scunthorpe United.
And the U’s star admitted injuries have made this the most frustrating season of his career.
Jackson had only just returned from a lengthy lay-off, following a shoulder injury.
But after suffering the hamstring problem barely five minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in the U’s 3-0 defeat at Glanford Park, the former Spurs player is facing yet more injury woe.
Jackson told the Gazette: “I was just getting back fit.
“I had been doing the running and looking to push for a place in the team again.
“But now, I’ll probably be lucky to play again this season.
“You can’t really legislate for something like this.
“I look at it and think ‘could I have been warmer?’ “But I warmed up before I came on.
“I did the same things as I had been doing last week, when I came on at Leicester.
“It was the first real thing that I did in the game and bang, it went.
“All I can do now is look to next year and hopefully come back stronger from it.”
