Colchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Chris Lewington on a two-year deal.
Lewington, who made more than 150 league and cup appearances for Dagenham and Redbridge before leaving them this summer, will battle it out with Sam Walker for the number one position at the U's.
U's boss Joe Dunne said: “Chris has been very consistent at Dagenham and great credit to Wayne (Burnett) and everybody there for bringing him through.
“At some stage, a player comes to a stage in his career where he tries to move on.
“It happened really quickly and as soon as I knew it was a possibility I dived on it, because I think he’s a very good young keeper.
“I now have two quality number ones and they can fight it out for the position."
