Colchester United have signed midfielder Owen Garvan on a short-term deal.
The 26-year-old has linked up with the U's until January, having been a free agent since leaving Championship club Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
Garvan made more than 170 league and cup appearances for Ipswich, having come through the ranks at Portman Road.
The Dubliner managed only four games last season though, three of which came during a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.
Garvan, who has not played a competitive match since September 2014, trained with the U's for the first time this morning and is set to go straight in their squad for the home game with Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
