Colchester United have added another promising youngster to their ranks after signing centre-back Dexter Peter on a one-year deal.
Former Millwall defender Peter impressed during a trial with the U's under-21 side under John McGreal last season and has done enough to earn a permanent move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Peter will be eligible to play for both Colchester's first team and the under-21s, in the Professional Development League, this season.
The 19-year-old, who had a spell at non-league Chelmsford City, was released by Millwall at the start of 2015 and will now be looking to impress for the U's.
Peter's arrival comes hot on the heels of the signings of Luke Prosser, Denny Johnstone, Courtney Senior and Ben Wyatt, as the U's build for the coming season.
