Brennan Dickenson enjoyed a timely double boost tonight after securing both the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year accolades at Colchester United's End of Season dinner.
The skilful wide man, who has been ruled out for several months with a cruciate knee injury suffered in training last week, bagged the prizes at the club's annual awards evening at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Dickenson has enjoyed a fine first season at Colchester since joining them on a free transfer from Gillingham, last summer.
The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals and produced countless assists during the campaign, helping the U's push for a play-off place in League Two.
Midfielder Tom Lapslie scooped the Young Player of the Season award while the Goal of the Season trophy was presented to George Elokobi for his wonder strike in Colchester’s home win over Wycombe Wanderers.
Elokobi also landed the Colchester United Supporters Association (CUSA) Player of the Year trophy, while Tom Eastman won the CUSA Away Player of the Year accolade.
U’s skipper Luke Prosser was named Community Player of the Year.
