Drey Wright has followed in the footsteps of Tom Eastman in committing his future to Colchester United.
The 22-year-old was offered the chance to stay at the U's for another 12 months as part of his existing deal which ends tomorrow and he will remain at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Wright was a regular for Colchester under John McGreal last season and clocked up 46 appearances in League Two, as the U's narrowly missed out on a play-off place.
The former U's youth-team player has made more than 100 senior appearances for Colchester since making his senior debut in August 2012 under former boss, John Ward.
Wright is the second Colchester player in as many days to commit his future to Colchester, following Tom Eastman who has penned a two-year deal.
The U's are yet to clarify the position of their other existing players who were offered contracts at the end of last season - Richard Brindley, George Elokobi, Lewis Kinsella, Kane Vincent-Young, Dean Brill, Diaz Wright and Charley Edge.
