Colchester United caretaker manager Joe Dunne believes his temporary stint in charge of the team has made him a better coach.
The popular U's servant took charge of his final game tonight at former club Gillingham.
He was unable to bow out with a win, after Colchester were beaten 4-3 on penalties, after their Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round tie had finished 1-1 after normal time.
Dunne took charge of four first-team games, following Paul Lambert's departure last month.
And he said he has relished the experience, ahead of Aidy Boothroyd's pending appointment tomorrow.
Dunne told the Gazette: "I've enjoyed the pressure and I've enjoyed the challenge.
"It's made me better and it's made me want to get better.
"It's whetted my appetite for more and I'm also excited about what is coming.
"It's something exciting and great and I urge everyone to drive behind the club."
