Freddie Sears is ready to hit the goal trail with Colchester United.
And the West Ham United youngster believes he has joined the U’s at just the right time.
Sears has signed for Colchester on a month’s loan and made his debut in their 3-2 defeat at Yeovil Town.
The 22-year-old striker, who has made 11 appearances for the Hammers this season, is keen to get as much match action under his belt over the next four weeks.
And with Colchester set to play seven more games in League One during his loan spell, Sears is hungry for game time at his new club.
Sears said: “You get fitter and stronger with every game that you play and I’m looking forward to playing more games.
“It’s definitely my aim to score goals and play well and try and get Colchester up the league.
“Colchester is perfect for me; they’re a good little club and it’s nice to play good football.
“I spoke to the manager (John Ward) before I came here and he said that they try and play football and that I’ll get games and that’s all you want to hear really.
“Games are coming thick and fast in the next few weeks and it’ll be a good spell once I get a couple of games under my belt to get going.
“I’m still at the stage where I don’t know everyone and a week’s training will help.”
