Macauley Bonne has signed a new contract with Colchester United.
The 19-year-old striker, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of the season, has committed himself to the U's until the summer of 2017.
Bonne told the U's website: "I am really pleased to have signed my new contract.
"It has been a big year for me since I first broke into the first team and it was good to be back in the starting line-up for the win against Bristol last week.
"I am hoping to earn a place on a more regular basis in the next couple of years and to keep scoring goals for the team."
Bonne, who returned to Colchester's starting line-up for the first time since 2013 in their 3-2 win over League One leaders Bristol City last weekend, progressed through the academy ranks at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
He was given his senior U's debut by former boss Joe Dunne when he played in their 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury Town in October, 2013.
He has since made 21 appearances for the club, scoring four times.
