I have to say that it is quite remarkable that Name and address withheld states that although living in the area he does not hear the horn chorus (Gazette Letters, June 15, “Ipswich Road work is an improvement”).

I am not one for conspiracy theories, but it is possible the writer is really Kevin Bentley using his superhero alter-ego Naaw Ay – the name is derived from his answer to the question “do you take any notice of residents’ objections during consultations?” to which the reply is always “naa-way” – to pretend he lives in the area to justify the money-wasting roundabouts.

It’s maybe the writer, although in the area may not be in earshot of Harwich Road roundabout where there is horn blowing during the day as cars going east leave the roundabout, enter on two lanes into St Andrew’s Avenue only to find they converge into one with drivers trying to be the first to get into the lane.

It may, at the moment, be quieter at the Ipswich Road roundabout as the lane closures and bridge work tend to make long queues form, rather than allow cars to race round.

While on the subject of roads, it has been rumoured that Netflix, after hearing how several locations in the area have successfully been used for films and adverts, were going to contact Essex Highways to see if they could use East Bridge as part of a film about the Apollo 11 moon mission to shoot the iconic scene of Neil Armstrong standing by the American flag as the craters in the road closely resembled those on the moon.

However after hearing that they were going to patch up these holes next month, Netflix has now decided to delay the request for a few weeks until the patched up holes reappear.
