I VENTURED along to the new exhitbition at Firstsite with little enthusiasm.
It was no surprise that I was confronted yet again with propaganda presented as art.
Loads of words about the ridiculous stereotyping of Essex culture. What Essex wants is interesting visual art, not press cuttings.
My friend was visiting the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne at the same time as I was visiting Firstsite.
At the Towner people paid £10 to see the works of John Nash, a master of modernism, who ironically lived and painted near here. An exhibition to lift the spirit. They wouldn’t pay to see what I was confronted with, I bet.
