A NIGHT of musical favourites is on the cards at the Headgate Theatre, Colchester, this weekend.
West End Women will feature a host of songs for the girls from stage musicals, including Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Les Miserables.
Organised and performed by seven local talented singers and dancers, the show promises to get the audience singing along.
The event will also be raising money for St Helena Hospice, in Colchester, and Steps, a national charity that helps people with lower limb disorders.
Organiser Kerry Gullen appeared with cast members Lisa Bibby and Louise Cassidy in Colchester Operatic Society’s production of Fiddler on the Roof in January. Other operatic members appearing include Katie Chan, Lisa Diason, Sarah Mott and Barbara Ryan.
Kerry said: “We all share a love of musicals, so picking the theme was easy. We have been rehearsing for several weeks and will be accompanied on piano by Peter Snell.”
Kerry’s sister, Lynne Haycock works for Barclays Bank, which has agreed to match the funds raised pound-for-pound.
The show is on tomorrow and Saturday at 7.30pm at the theatre in Chapel Street North. Tickets are £7. Call the box office on 01206 366000.
