I've only just heard the news. I'm so sad to hear this. Nick and I were governors together at Witnesham and Otley Primary Schools for many years, and he helped me out personally with a school appeal that I needed to make. His knowledge of education, and his humour shone through during our many meetings. His passing is a loss. My condolences to his family and friends.

We are very sad to hear this news!

He gave my sister who has special needs a chance of normal education at Langenhoe primary back when it was at the old school house on Mersea Road. He took on the challenge and persevered when others wouldn’t have!

He was headteacher when I was at Langenhoe Primary from 1998- 2004. I always remember assemblies with him playing the guitar and singing hymns. I look back at my time at Langenhoe with a lot of fondness and Mr Stanley stands out as being a big part of that! The best primary school experience I could have asked for; warm and inviting school, Christmas Fayre and Grottos, just to name a few things that he did…

We thank you, Moira, Georgia and Rosalie Edwards,

xx

Mr Stanley was my headteacher at Langenhoe School from 1995-2001. He was firm enough to get us all to listen and behave and relaxed enough to make us laugh. I have thought of him so many time over the last 20 years. I remember sitting next to him a coach for a school trip and he had an egg sandwich. He said something along the lines of “the only sandwich you can have on a coach is an egg one because it smells so much”. I also remember him eating his lunch in the dinner hall with us kids and laughing at himself when food would get stuck in his moustache. He was funny, kind, creative and made my primary school years so enjoyable, along with the other teachers. He was such a lovely role model and I will always remember him.

The best teacher I ever had. We all just worshipped him. He was one of those who made me want to be a teacher. I had him at Gosbecks, top juniors 1979-1980. Condolences to his family, I remember Pat and Lucy very well. X

My teacher in my last year at Gosbecks in 1979. A big character and a great guy. Will never forget him telling the whole class "you 'll want to know me when I'm famous " just prior to announcing he was going on a round the world trip on his Triumph Bonneville motorbike. My condolences to his family - RIP Nick
