SAUNDERS John Charles Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on May 31st 2023, aged 65 years. Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather who will be sadly missed. Funeral Service to be held at St Lawrence Church, Rowhedge on the 14th July 2023, at 10:00am. Followed by the Burial at East Donyland Cemetery.Tributes

Hi,
I know this is late but I have only just found out this sad news about John.
I am assuming that this is the John that worked at Cooks Shipyard in Wivenhoe.
I was also an apprentice at the same time as John, and we shared a room with another fellow apprentice for a year up in Lowestoft.
I will always remember the extended monopoly sessions we all played that sometimes went on for days, as 16 year olds we had to find something to do !
John was a great lad, and although once we reached 20 years old I left Cooks having finished my apprenticeship, I never saw him again after that, however I will always remember he was always a cheerful and funny lad.
John will always be that person in my memory. I am now 66, it's just a shame that we never met again.
