DOWNES Michael Bernard 27.07.1940 - 06.09.2024 A sad loss to the community of Wivenhoe. Funeral at Colchester Crematorium, Thursday 10th October 12:15pm. All friends invited to attend and gather at Wivenhoe British Legion from 1:30pm to remember Mike. Donations, if desired to Just Giving for Children of Fire International.Tributes

Just learned of Mike's passing. Really sad 😔 He taught me so much about sailing. We had much fun racing in his handmade boat, with his expert-ballast-dog Ben hanging over the side. I was only thinking of tracking him down a month or so ago... gutted I didn't get that together; thought i had all the time in the world. He's always in my thoughts when the wind picks up. RIP Mike. Give Ben a hug from me x
