WELL-KNOWN actor and comedian Adrian Edmondson stopped off in Tiptree as part of his Ade in Britain series - in which he aims to discover more about his home country.
Edmondson, of Young Ones and Bottom fame, was in the village to find fresh rhubarb and enlisted the help of Chris Newenham, farm director at Wilkin & Sons to locate it.
During the episode, to be aired on Tuesday at 4pm on ITV, Mr Newenham takes Edmondson to the preserves company’s field, where he gathered some rhubarb stems.
Edmondson and the crew are then given a tour of the famous jam factory, with factory manager, Robert Parker.
“It was great opportunity to show Ade the early rhubarb and he was fascinated with the busy factory,” said Mr Newenham.
“Visitors to the tea room were really surprised to see this TV personality’s tiny caravan in the car park and they hoped to get a glimpse of Ade during his visit to Tiptree.
“We are certainly curious to see how he cooked the rhubarb.”
