A STREET stabbing in Colchester was a targeted attack by associates of the victim, detectives believe.

Police were called to St John’s Road after a cyclist was stabbed with a knife.

A car chased down the victim before a man got out and stabbed the cyclist in the side before driving off.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance but later discharged himself and has not co-operated with police.

The attack took place at about 6pm on Saturday.

Det Insp Kev Hughes said: “Police do not believe this was a random attack and we are looking at associates of the victim.

“We are continuing with our investigation at this time but the victim has so far failed to provide the police with a full statement or description of his attacker.”

Anyone with information about the latest stabbing is urged to call officers at Colchester CID on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
