JAMES Pocklington and Janet Britton celebrated their wedding in style - with free reign of Colchester Castle.
The couple, both, 49, tied the knot at All Saints Church, in Great Horkesley, before joining their congregation in a vintage London Routemaster bus on Friday to the castle for their wedding reception.
Janet, an administrator at Colchester General Hospital, said: “This is a dream wedding reception.
“The council has been great, letting us come into the crescent with the bus.
“I think it really makes our wedding unique and it will certainly stick in our guests’ minds.”
Janet contacted Colchester Council after finding out the castle would be available for special events for a month before a £4.2million refurbishment takes place.
Receptions have been held at the castle before, but this time James and Janet had free rein of the building because all the displays and exhibitions have been stripped out.
Guests were also treated to guided tours before a DJ and magician took centre stage.
