A TESTICULAR cancer survivor hopes his experience will make other men stop putting off going to the doctor.

Darren Couchman was diagnosed with cancer aged 27.

Having delayed going to the doctor, he vowed to raise awareness of the disease, by setting up campaign Testicle Tour.

Mr Couchman, now 39, held his latest fundraising event at the Original Factory Shop, in Kelvedon Road, Tiptree, when about 25 model paced the catwalk, wearing clothes supplied by the shop, in front of an audience of about 100.

The shop has also selected the Testicle Tour as its charity of the year.

Mr Couchman, who lives in Little Clacton, said: “It’s great to have so many people turn out to support us and mark the start of this partnership.

“We need to raise awareness of male cancers as widely as possible and events like this allow us to do it.”

He added: “I was angry with myself for leaving it so long to go to the doctor, so I decided that I wanted to raise awareness of the illness and the importance of regular self checks.

“If I could educate the men of the UK, then I may just save someone’s life.”

Jacqui Spriggs, manager of the Original Factory Shop, said: “The fashion show is a way to involve the whole community and to make everyone aware of male cancers.”

As well as the show, the store will also be selling Testicle Tour wristbands, t-shirts, key rings and coasters.
