COLCHESTER’S cafe to the stars has served its last snack after 13 years.
During that time Cameo has served everyone from A-listers to actors in the soaps.
Owners Brian and Melody Estall, both 64, have decided to call it a day as the couple say it’s time for a much-needed rest.
The Church Street cafe, just a stone’s throw from The Mercury Theatre and Arts Centre, closed on Saturday.
Their proximity to the cafe has made it a popular hangout over the years for both performers and staff at the two arts venues, as well as the general public.
Despite the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Britt Ekland dropping by, Mr Estall said he had never been starstruck.
Speaking about the secret to its celebritiy status, he said: “I think they like something a bit different, I suppose it is just the way we are with them, we treat them like normal people.”
