TOP cyclists will race round a tweaked route when they return to Colchester for the fourth Tour Series race in the town centre.
On Thursday, May 30, ten teams of professional racers will do laps of the town centre along the High Street from the Town Hall, down Head Street and along St John’s Street.
In previous years the cyclists sped down Osborne Street and up St Botolph’s Street. But next month they wil take a sharp left and then right from St John’s street into Vineyard Gate car park, before rejoining St Botolph’s Street.
Series race director Mick Bennett said: “The small change will keep things fresh and make the warm-up for both races all important in learning the new circuit.”
The action packed men’s race will start at 7pm and will feature 25 laps over an hour. The Johnson Health Tech Grand Prix Series women’s race will start at 5.30pm.
To coincide with half term, a free afternoon of cycling and sports activities will be held in Castle Park from noon to 5pm.
