A CHEF who posted racy pictures of his ex-girlfriend online in a “heinous” act of revenge has been spared an immediate prison sentence.
Jilted boyfriend James Aldous, 22, crept into Cassandra Fearnley’s home one night.
He logged on to her laptop and nabbed 20 topless pictures of her before posting them on a website which he created, Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.
Aldous, of Victory Road, Clacton, admitted harassment in March and has now been given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for a year.
Philip Pearson, prosecuting, said: “In February she became aware that a website had been created which contained naked images of her.
“She found other sites with the images on and was shocked and concerned.
“Aldous was angry and he wanted to get back at her for having a new partner and he chose a grossly offensive way to do so.
“It is outrageous behaviour.”
The couple lived together in the house with their two year-old daughter until November last year.
When the relationship turned sour Aldous moved out to his mother’s house.
After discovering that his ex had a new boyfriend he raided her home and stole the pictures to exact his revenge, the court heard.
He told police he borrowed the key from his mother, who had it in case of emergencies.
Chairman of the bench Martin Stuchfield said: “This is a particularly heinous crime. The principle is a disgraceful one.”
Aldous will be locked up if he does not complete 150 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.
Mr Stuchfield did not award damages to victim Cassandra Fearnley.
He said: “The humiliation suffered by the victim is so great you could never compensate her for it.”
But Aldous was ordered to pay costs of £105 and a victim surcharge of £80.
Miss Fearnley, who studies at Essex University, said: “I suppose this is justice done because he had been punished and that’s a good thing.
“It’s at the stage now where I just want it all to be over and done with.
"It’s been the bane of my life.
“Now I can get on with my life and enjoy it without this hanging over me.”
