A TROPHY match has been organised in memory of a well-known coach who died from a stroke last year.
Mick Lissimore died aged 63 in January 2012, having coached Colchester and East Essex League side New Field FC for four years.
Now Thomas Munson, chairman of the Shrub End-based club, is organising the Mick Lissimore Memorial Trophy.
“He was a lovely man who had time for everyone,” said Mr Munson.
“Mick was very well-known in the club and by a lot of people in youth football and I wanted something for the club to have in his honour.”
Mr Munson has set a provisional date for May 25, at 2pm, at the Shrub End playing field, when New Field first side will play New Field reserves, containing past players and Mr Lissimore’s three sons
Club fines, collected during the season, and match fees on the day will go to The Stroke Association.
