COOKIE crunchers and gateaux gourmands are being urged to make a diary date for next month.
Colchester hosts its fifth annual Colossal Cake Sale on Saturday May 4 in aid of Help for Heroes, one of the charities behind the Chavasse VC Recovery Centre at the town’s garrison.
Volunteers will be selling homemade cookies, cakes and preserves in a bid to add to the many thousands of pounds already raised for the charity’s work with Armed Forces personnel injured in the service of their country.
Once again the event will be held at the Lion Walk shopping centre, opposite Boots, with town mayor Christopher Arnold conducting the official opening
There will be performances by the Colchester Pipes and Drum Band, the Colchester Military Wives’ Choir and traditional dancing by the town’s Gurkha community.
