A MAIN Colchester road will be closed for three weeks while essential sewerage work is carried out.
Highwoods Approach will be closed from 9.30am on Monday, April 29, while Anglian Water repairs a collapsed sewer.
It means there will be no access to the stretch of Highwoods Approach between the Rovers Tye, at the Ipswich Road roundabout, and Derwent Road until Sunday, May 19.
An Anglian Water spokesman said: "We have been aware of a potential collapse for between four and five weeks.
“After using CCTV to investigate, it was concluded the repairs needed to be done.
“We investigate other options short of closing the road completely but in this case, the other options were not possible.
"We would apologise for the inconvenience it will cause and we aim to have the work completed within the timeframe we have been given.”
