BUS company First plans to donate £1 to a cancer charity for every passenger who uses the bus during Catch the Bus Week.
The national campaign which runs between Monday, April 29 and Sunday, May 5, aims to get more people using public transport.
First hopes to raise about £20,000 for Macmillan, the company’s national charity partner.
Each pound will be raised when passengers register their extra journey on the First website.
Nigel Barrett, Managing Director of First South East and Midlands, said: “We wanted to do something a little bit different to encourage people to use the bus during Catch the Bus Week.
“So, if customers use the bus more than they would normally next week, we want them to register those extra journeys with us on-line so that we can donate £1 to Macmillan.”
Sally Hill, Account Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “We are very grateful to First and its customers for their continued support.”
