THREE Eddie Stobart trucks have been named after the family of Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell.

The three trucks, all new to the haulage firm’s fleet, have been named Lady Audrey, after the MP’s wife, Nicola Kate, after his daughter, and Jessica June, after his granddaughter.

It is after the MP has been a member of the Eddie Stobart fan club for ten years.

“It’s a bit of light relief,” Sir Bob said.

“We certainly didn’t expect it, but it’s a real honour.

“Anyone who knows about British industry is aware that Stobart is a major player.”

Sir Bob became a fan club member while daughter Nicola was going to university in Derby.

“I was driving her to and from university and on those drives I took to counting the Stobart lorries to pass the time,” he added.

During one drive to Bradford and back for a Liberal Democrats’ meeting, he spotted 154.

It was after that Sir Bob’s daughter bought him a membership to the club.

The trucks are now three of more than 2,000 on the road.
