THE parents of a young man who went missing almost a year ago say they believe he is still alive.

Julie and Robert Stammers have renewed their appeal for son Anthony to let someone know he is safe.

Anthony, 28, of Mile End Road, Colchester, has not been seen since May 27 last year.

He was reported missing after he failed to turn up to his grandfather’s funeral the next day.

Police carried out extensive searches including the Mile End and Braiswick areas of the town.

But the keen musician’s disappearance remains a mystery to his family.
Mrs Stammers, 56, said: “In our situation we are in limbo every day.
“We haven’t had any bad news although it has been a very difficult year for us all, friends and family.
“We have got to try and keep positive every day.”

Anthony, who had previously been treated for depression, was last seen at 10am on May 27 when he told his mum he was going to meet a couple of friends in London and may or may not return home that night.

He texted her an hour later to ask if she could make sure his black trousers were ready for his grandfather Arthur’s funeral the next day.
He did not meet his friends or attend the funeral at Colchester Crematorium.

Mrs Stammers urged anyone who knew her son’s whereabouts to get in touch, even if it was confidentially, which can be done via missingpeople.org or at the charity’s number, on 116000.

“We just need to know if he is OK. He doesn’t have to get in touch with us personally but we would like to know.”
She also said made the same appeal to anyone who might be shielding Anthony to confirm he was OK.
*Anthony is described as white, 5 ft

10 ins, of medium build and had short, dark hair when he disappeared.
