TRADING Standards is warning residents about ongoing scams as part of an awareness month.
Various schemes involving post, phone, email or door-knocking are still common and can take the form of dodgy investment schemes, fake lotteries and efforts to steal your details.
The campaign is part of Scams Awareness Month, running throughout May, organised by the Citizens Advice Bureaux and the Trading Standards Institute.
Residents are warned to look for tell-tale signs of scams, such as if the information has come out of the blue, if you are asked for money in advance, or if you are asked to respond quickly.
If you think something is a scam people are advised to not reply and ask for advice. You should never give out personal details to strangers or people who should already have them.
