TRIBUTE has been paid to a cricket club stalwart who has died suddenly.
West Mersea Cricket Club member David Fahie, 54, was found dead in his home on Wednesday evening.
A member of the cricket club for more than 30 years Mr Fahie scored more than 2,500 runs for the club in 292 appearances.
Kevin Hewes, secretary of the West Mersea Cricket Club, said: "David was a superb Mersea man, who loved the island and the people.
"He will be missed in the West Mersea Cricket Club family, by young and old alike, and our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this time."
- Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
