In today's Gazette: Tributes have been paid to a fun-loving dad-of-two who died suddenly of a dissected aorta.
David Bobby, who was 43, was chairman of Colchester Valley Youth and Training Orchestra and was an active member of St Teresa of Lisieux Church in Colchester.
* Convicted killer Jeremy Bamber has described his victory in the European Court of Human Rights as a hollow victory.
Bamber, 52, who is serving a whole life tariff after being convicted of murdering five members of his family, won support from the court which said the sentence was a violation of his human rights.
* An outbuilding of a dentist's surgery in Halstead Road, Colchester, was destroyed by fire.
Firefighters were called to battle flames which leapt 30ft into the air as firewood, old paper patient notes and dental equipment fuelled the blaze.
* A memorial stone has been unveiled in memory of murdered police officer Ian Dibell.
