RACING comes to the waves at Wivenhoe this weekend during the town’s annual regatta day.
Gigs, smacks, dinghies and yachts will all be racing on the River Colne in front of the town, with competitions beginning from 1.45pm on Saturday.
A raft race finishes the racing events at 4.30pm.
Festivities begin on Friday evening with the traditional pram race, where “mums” push their “babies” around Lower Wivenhoe, each drinking half a pint of beer at each pub.
The event begins at 7.30, with registration closing at 7.15pm at the Station Hotel, in Station Road.
There is also fun and frolics on dry land with Punch and Judy, music, face painting and food all available along the Quay on Saturday.
